WTF? What's The Fashion? Striped Bags & Striped Cropped Pants

Celebs Seen on the Scene Going On Stripe!

Kendra Wilkinson, January Jones, Nicole Richie

Kendra Wilkinson (H&M), January Jones (Prada), and Nicole Richie (Balenciaga)

Striped bags are another versatile accessory that goes practically anywhere with anything. Kendra's nautical navy and white striped tote from H&M is not only on trend for the summer but excellent for storing books, magazines, sun tan lotion and sunglasses for some reading at the beach. January Jones smaller black and green striped bag makes it an easy grab-and-go purse for running errands or she can turn that Prada into chic for a luncheon with the girlfriends. I love for my bags to be so big that I can fit my entire life in them just like Nicole's carry-all. Nothing says fit and fab like a trendy, striped, oversized bag to put all your gym clothes in.
Black and white vertical stripes on pants allows the eyes to move up and down, giving the illusion of slimmer leaner legs. And these pants being cropped adds a plus to this trend because it gives you the chance to show off your fabulous heels. When completing the outfit, stay away from prints. Keep it basic on top with blouses and shirts within the neutral color family like grays and creams, but don't be afraid to be well-heeled with a pop of color. Red pumps will make a haute statement when paired with black and white striped crops.
As stated before, striped bags can go with practically everything. Take note that I said, "practically". When carrying your striped shoulder bag refrain from wearing a striped shirt. When shopping for your stripped bottoms, keep in mind of the boldness and thickness of the black and white stripes, unless your personal style resembles Beetlejuice!

WTF? What's The Fashion? Red Print Maxi Dresses

Combine summer's warmest colors with this season's hottest dress and you're set for one of fashion's top trend. The Boho is going Rojo detailed with prints and such. It's gorgeous against sun-kissed skin and "forgiving" when indulging at a summer barbecue. Accessorize your patterned maxi dress with a single colored satchel and of course finish this relaxed bohemian chic look with a pair of sandals or wedges. Follow fashion icon, Nicole Richie, the queen of the bohemians on how to properly accentuate a red patterned maxi. Gold pieces of jewelry like a long layered pendant necklace, bangles or a large faceted stone ring will bring out the warmer tones of this ensemble.

WTF? What's The Fashion? Rope Belts

Fashion has weighed anchor on an increasingly popular trend. This Grecian/Egyptian trend is setting sail towards the Nautical. The rope belt ran rampant all throughout the spring runways predominately in Gucci fashion shows and now is setting course, full speed ahead. Rope belts are fashion accessories that can be DIY and are versatile. Treat it as your traditional fashion belt. Wear it with trousers to work or with a jumper at night. Bring this accessory trend from the summer into the cooler seasons by using it to wrap around your trench coat. This type of belt will add an unusual interest that is unexpected. Keep it loose and unstructured by tying it in only one knot. Gwyneth Paltrow gives the rope belt an oceanic twist wrapping it around a navy colored dress. Dita Von Teese trend-sets it by combining her rope belt with a printed frock and the beautifully expecting Bryce Dallas Howard shows us that you can still accessorize your budding belly by cinching in her J. Crew gown for a more flattering, non-tent like look.

WTF? What's The Fashion? Roll Clutch Handbags

This trend was first seen in the hands of many starlets at this year's Golden Globes and has not faded away since then. You can still channel your Hollywood glamour and create a polished look with an oval-shaped clutch. Originally known as the traditional handbag of brides and bridesmaids it's now an essential element from turning a night out into a sophisticated affair. With it's elongated and sleek shape, this clutch is still able to hold all your necessities for a romantic evening. Hailee Steinfeld's vibrant turquoise Amanda Pearl adds a playful touch that's perfect for such a sweet and young up-coming star. But a metallic colored clutch in satin or sequin will stunningly go with everything.

WTF? What's The Fashion? Bold-Colored Espadrilles

You know the colors of the season, the accessories of the season and now the footwear of the season is the espadrille revamped in bold colors and patterns. Add a little pop to your sundress, give your flowy flowered skirt a little extra flirt or make your stems extend with a pair of capris. Kim Kardashian's version of the espadrille gives the illusion of a heel where all the color detail is at the top. Lea and Elizabeth is wearing your traditional wedged espadrille but with a colorful twist instead of the usual braided straw detail.

WTF? What's The Fashion? Animal Print Dresses

Celebs Seen on the Scene Walking on the Wild Side!

Jamie Chung, Helen Mirren, Audrina Patridge

Jamie Chung (Blu Moon), Helen Mirren (Dolce & Gabbana) and Audrina Patridge (Camilla)

The animal print is far from over and is still seen as a must to have in your closet. Call it going back to my roots, but I have a soft spot these exotic, eye-catching prints. When poping on these prints for the summer, feel free to long as the maxi or short as the mini. When wearing a maxi dress, add a wide belt around your waist to keep us from losing you within the print, like Ms. Audrina Patridge fashionably has. Chuncky bracelets make a more fierce statement to this vicious look. Gold would accessorize cheetah, leopard even giraffe print really well while silver and hematite would really stand out amongst zebra patterns. But as we all know fashion is far from traditional. Below, celebrities are wearing their animal prints in great pops of colour that are not neutrals but keep in mind the cut and color of the dress, like Reese Witherspoon's bustier, figure-flattering, emerald and brown dress or Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's tricolored sheath dress in safari hues. It's stylish and safe to add yellows, reds, turquoise and purples to add more flavor but tone down the accessories like Reese did with her nude Jimmie Choo peep-toe pumps. I particularly like how Helen Mirren and Lily Collins uped-the-anty on their neutral adds ons: a rocker jacket over a leopard maxi for Helen and a chic-punk style to a black peep-toe Christian Louboutin booties with gold button details for Lily. Since Lily's dress was cut in a more conservative style, she edged it up more with Alexis Bittar gold jewelry and a gold Judith Leiber roll-clutch.

WTF? What's The Fashion? Minimal White Outfits

Throughout the spring season and going into summer we have seen a whole range of colors listed at the top of leading trends. This trend is going back to basic and bringing with it everything but ordinary and is allowing you to enjoy it early in the next season. Purity doesn't seem to stop inspiring fashion designers from mesmerizing their audience with the trend's blinding and heart-warming impressions of bright whites. This all-white, head-to-toe trend is actually called "Minimal White." The Minimal White trend was seen all over the runways of spectacular designer's spring and summer 2011 collections and of course on the streets of L.A. and New York by our favorite celebrities.

Mila Kunis (Boca Negro), Jennifer Lopez (Hakaan dress/Stella McCartney coat), Cameron Diaz (Theykens' Theory jacket/Vince jeans), Ashley Tisdale (Free People) and Vanessa Hudgens (Blue Life shirt/Goddis pants)

When one thinks of an all white outfit for summer, visions of floral prints with a white eyelet skirt comes to mind. Or maybe you've had a nautical inspiration with a pair wide leg, sailor button, white linen pants topped off with a navy blazer and gold accessories. But this time, there is no color insight, with the exception of Cameron Diaz's edgy black jacket. My favorite looks have to be the classic and sophisticated styles shown in a pants suit and dress with matching length coat seen on Mila Kunis and Jennifer Lopez. But for those hot summer days you can take Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens' bohemian-chic laid-back look.
Here are some tips for the everyday fashionista who want to shine in Minimal White:
Look for fabrics that are thick enough that you can't see the pocket or the hem or even your personal intimates worn underneath (make sure you wear skin-tone underwear), this faux pas is considered extremely tacky. To keep from looking like a medical lab technician, realize that there are many different shades of white that can go together. To achieve the best look of your all white outfit, look at your garments in the sunlight.
Of course, I have a fear of getting my whites dirty, as do many of you I'm sure, but I am going to take a risk and actually purchase a pair of all white bootcut jeans to wear with my bright tops and linen espadrilles this summer. I just need to invest in some really good laundry detergent!

WTF? What's The Fashion? Polka Dots w/ Floral Prints

Polka dots are a traditional fabric pattern and are returning with another popular print for spring and summer. What makes these prints such fashion favorite is that both of them are timeless and will draw attention to all the right places. Designers took a shot with these dots on the runway where they were prominent in dresses and skirts as well as scarves, handbags, even shoes. Along with many others, Moschino's 2011 spring collection, played with prints mixing polka dots with flowers, stripes and gingham checkers while adding in splashes of color. But what is great about this trend, even though daring is that it's absolutely wearable. The trick for this trend is to balance your floral printed top or bottom with a black and white polka dotted partner. Keep your accessories neutral. If your prints are in natural tones pop in one of your favorite vibrant colors and accentuate it minimially with your outfit like in a wide bangle bracelet or a skinny belt. But remember, one is all you'll need. Fashion is fearless. Take some time to model it in the dressing room or create combos in your full-length mirror that's in your closet. Mix it up this summer. Go have fun and play with your prints!

WTF? What's The Fashion? Laser-Cut Detailed Dresses

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Fashion and technology have come together and slashed their way into becoming the next fashion trend! As you can see ladies, laser technology is now used for more than just hair removal. It now gives us a new spin to the term "peek-a-boo"! This type of intricate detailing resembling lace gives a more delicate while at the same time edgy look that is red carpet worthy and runway wow. Laser-cut detailing is also seen in many tops from casual to classy that are sold in a wide variety of retail stores so all fashionistas can embrace this new evolution of fabric detailing. You know for us stylists, like these dresses, it's all in the details! Have fun with your accessories and shoes when wearing this in the form of a dress or top. With this look, you should not be afraid to experiment with your jewelry. However, I recommend leaving out the necklace or of course going completely bare so it doesn't take away from these patented patterns that deserves your fashion fans' fullest attention!
