WTF? What's The Fashion? Crop Tops

I can't think of any other way to show off your bikini bod other than by showing off a sliver of skin in a crop top. Making a comeback from the 80s, crop tops are au courant by being paired with a high-waisted bottom only revealing that tiniest part of your tummy, giving you that extra bit of coverage. If you don't want to resemble Britney Spears circa 1999, make note of these midriffs dos and donts.
Ban those boring bras and add some color and style to your lingerie collection. These fun items have been worn by Hollywood wonders like Gwen Stefani and Jennifer Aniston, with a high-waisted maxi-skirt and underneath and unbuttoned blouse, bridging the gap between underwear and outerwear. Seen on our favorite stars including Rihanna and Leighton Meester, the bustier crop top is the sexiest way to display your midriff. To keep it from looking like something from the Frederick's of Hollywood, pair your bustier with an ultra-feminine vibe wide-leg trouser that sits barely an inch below the top leaving just enough imagination while keeping your look classy and appropriate. Caught on celebrities channeling their 80s look like Kelly Kapowski, a comfy loose crop tee when completed with a high-waisted jean short and flats successfully creates a very casual afternoon outfit.

WTF? What's The Fashion? Crocheted Knits

Even though crochet designs may remind you of doilies and blankets . . . cardigans, tops, dresses, even shorts have gotten a chic makeover that has turned into a bona fide trend. Available in a wide variety of styles, patterns and textures, crochet looks are for every woman. While crocheted pieces were thought of as heavy for warmer weather, it is the perfect light-weight style for this in-between temperature. However, layering or utilizing skin-tone undergarments when wearing a crocheted top or dress is important because for the most part, crocheted clothing is see-through. Not a big fan of crocheted clothing? An incredible effortless way to incorporate it, is by adding one or two crocheted accessories to your outfit such as sandals, clutches, necklaces or belts. Personally me, the modern-chic rendition of this style that I would wear would be a cardigan over a basic white tank, light blue bootcut jeans and espadrilles, for necessary coverage and an airy look.

WTF? What's The Fashion? Polka Dots in Neutrals

Like stripes, polka dots are a versatile print that are timeless, tasteful and trendsetting. We are all familiar with the retro-vibe that the black and white polka-dots are very highly-known for. Now love 'em in neutral shades of nude and blush tones for a more classic and feminine look. Accessorize your dotted ensemble with bold and bright accessories and transfer this look into your everyday daywear but sporting a dotted blouse instead of a dress. A neutral polka-dotted chiffon blouse tucked into a pair of trousers are absolutely work-appropriate. Switch out the trousers for skinny jeans and you're ready for the weekend.

WTF? What's The Fashion? Collared Dresses

These rounded collars (also known as Peter Pan collars) are a very popular dress detail seen on fashionable celebrities everywhere. From Emma Watson to Emma Roberts this timeless trend is proving itself to be everlasting. It is definitely a desirable ensemble to wear to work or for meeting his parents. Whatever the occasion, Peter Pan collars are perfect for an uptown look. These little numbers are cute and cozy while at the same time, elegant and sophisticated. Transfer the chic collared dress into a traditional blouse that can be worn underneath a pullover sweater or a beaded cardigan. Pull together a well-incorporated look by pairing a collar blouse with a pair of jeans or a flowy skirt. This type of collar adds whimsy to an otherwise ordinary dress. But for a less adorable and more modern spin that will create a look that's a little less youthful, add edgy accessories to your ensemble. Leather clutches, studded jewelry and closed-toe platform pumps should tailor your Peter Pan collared dress or blouse away from being too "cutesy" even in floral prints and bright patterns.

WTF? What's The Fashion? Straw Boater Hats

This trend reminds me more of banjo tunes during Dixie days down by the riverboat, but just like the fedora, the boater hat is fashion's current way to top off your ensemble. With the nautical look still being one of the top trends of the season, the boater hat will surely complete your look with a stripe blazer. The boater hat also provides some safe chic. It's wide brim can provide extra protection from the sun's UV rays that we are still feeling in these not-so-hot, not-so-cold, in between temperatures. Choose straw for the remaining of the summertime and transition into wool in the fall for your fabrication of choice. Boater hats can be found in retailers like Urban Outfitters, department stores like Macys and online specialty boutiques. Pair it with neutral colors or bright fresh shades when outfitting with this topper.

WTF? What's The Fashion? Structured Shoulder Bags

So far all year, fashion has been grading slouchy hobo bags as the top trend in handbags. This fall, purses are graduating into a more mature look on style. From now on, carry in your hand or on your shoulder a more sleek and chic bag. Structured purses can highlight your style with more of a tailored taste transforming even your casual daywear into a sophisticated effortless attire. Turn your everyday look up a notch with a structured tote or crossbody bag and exuberate more elegance at night with a clean clutch. For such a streamlined accessory go for a shiny patent leather handbag with a pop of color like red or keep it classic in black or white. Search for details like metal turn-locks and clasps. Go for gloss with a reptilian-embossed print in silver, gray or purple or more down-to-earth with a cognac or ivory satchel. Either way, a structured shoulder bag will add class to your style that's sure to give your look an A+!

WTF? What's The Fashion? Cork Platforms

Personally, when I think of corks, I think of opening one of my favorite vintage wines. But apparently as we can see here, cork is spreading from the office to the closet! They are showing up in almost all arenas of the social realm. At your next dinner engagement or yacht party, become well-heeled in a cork platform. And why not? The cork platforms are along the collection of comfortable, versatile footwear that can be worn from day to night, from brunch to happy hour. Whether made of real or synthetic cork, these shoes add height without the weight like other platform shoes. When shopping for your new social accessory, search for a simple strappy shoe with some heel definition. Another asset about the cork platform is that it can be worn with a ruffled-flowy top and shorts or with a embellished cocktail ensemble. It's okay when dressing up to pair your sophisticated look with a cork platform because it acts as an alternative to nude heels. The chunkier. . .the better, if you wanna really embrace this trend!!!

WTF? What's The Fashion? Colored Jeans

Of course every lady has a pair of denim jeans in their closet but the colored jean is "de rigueur" of the year! Colored denim is such a fun trend with so many options for everyone to enjoy whether or not they are feeling bold and bright. For those not completely convinced that a pair of colored jeans are practically essential for the season, test the waters by investing in a light blue skinny. This colored jean is easily to blend with most of the items in your closet. But for the risk takers, green, cobalt or crimson denim add the perfect pop of color to any outfit. Keep your top and accessories subtle to keep the focus on the jeans where it should be without looking like you stepped out of a crayon box. If you decide to wear a printed top other than a solid one in black or white hues, wear one with small prints that will allow you to pull one of the colors to match your colored skinnies. Transition this multi-shaded summer skinny into fall by going from light colors such as pink, blues and yellows to more darker deeper shades like forest, maroon or navy.
