The posh faux-ostrich handbag is a boldly textured must-have for the uptown girl, especially if you are trying to channel celebrity chicness. With an ostrich-effect bag, you can flaunt A+ style at work or in class. Dress it down with a long cardigan and a pair of cowboy ankle boots where one can really hold her own with any type of accessory, including a paisley silk headband and sunglasses. Fancy this: Strive for sophistication with ballerina flats and a tight top knot for that important dinner date.

Statement collars are a trend that just won't stop. Quirky and yet flirty, designers during NYFW like Lela Rose, Kate Spade and Rebecca Minkoff have confirmed that contrast collars will not be removed from the fashion scene, at least for the next season. Bring the catwalk looks to your closet by coordinating your dress with your shoes, coat and accessories so the collar can stand out and shine on its own. Or layer your sleeveless collared blouse underneath a dress to expand the fashion fad with more of your wardrobe.
My Wonderful Fabunistas!!! Thank you so much for your support and wishes, they have truly meant a lot to me. I have finally arrived in Chicago! I've temporarily moved into my first apartment on the North side, settled in my new job as Marketing and Brand Manager for Express on the Magnificent Mile and am about to begin volunteering for some of the fashion industries of the downtown metropolitan area. After FINALLY getting my Internet connection set up, I am slowly but surely as you can obviously tell, getting back to my networking. I have some posts that I'm behind on and I already have meetings with designers and musicians for Bougie Magazine's "Spring Exposed" issue to schedule. So with that being said, expect a post almost every day from me for a little while and a lot of tweets coming at you for the love of my readers and for the desire to keep you all updated with the latest trends and the styles spotlighted throughout the fashion scene.
As promised, a few of the top trends spotlighted at New York Fashion Week on today's, The "F" Word!
NYFW Has Us Cuddling Up with Fur Collars Yet Again!
An oldie but goodie has made a comeback and there are so many that are glad that it did. Just within the first couple of days of New York Fashion Week, the favorite trend of the fur collars has come back to us fresh off the runway thanks to designers like BCBGMAXAZRIA, JSong. . .Way, Juan Carlos Obando and Corey Lynn Calter. Transfer your winter wardrobe or keep your shoulders nice and snuggled away with a plush faux-fur colored-collar draped over your black or camel coat for a fashion update or a strapless evening gown for added drama that's winter appropriate.
Remember those days of Audrey Hepburn and Breakfast at Tiffany's? The glamorous women of times long ago at tinsel town graced the movie screen with their infamous style consisting of a long-stemmed cigarette and elbow-sleeved gloves. This ladylike accessory of yesteryear is a relic that deserves to be relished. Models that have taken their turn on the catwalk have displayed the traditional and more modern ways to wear the fully-lengthen glove. Runway shows of Yigal Azrouel and Helios & Luna gave their show highlighting these gloves that can be worn with dresses and outerwear in full-length or with 3/4 sleeves. However, the way Diane Von Furstenberg has styled her model with the wide gaps of exposed skin between the sleeveless top and the glove gives us mixed feelings from the confusion of the seasons.
It has been noticed during the coverage of New York Fashion Week that floral prints are coming in in dark colors. I've been contemplating the mix of the springtime patterns with autumn's deep berry hues but quickly realized that they are perfect to wear during these last colder months that don't seem to be going away. But switch out your pumps for a pair of sandals and your wishful thinking for spring can surely arrive. Richard Chai has made this trend office-appropriate by transitioning the floral print from the always-anticipated frock into a blazer. Although, the floriated prints in a rich purple shade received very flattering reviews from the runway by Honor. My favorite look has to be the ultra femme take on the trend rocked by Jill Stuart who has styled the dark flowered frock with a pair of knee-high, platformed, black leather boots.
The newest take on the outerwear trend for late winter and this upcoming spring is wearing your trench coat as a cocktail dress. Now to me, a coat is a coat. I'm having a difficult time seeing it worn only as a dress. I sincerely hope that even though these trench coats, if styled correctly, can give the illusion that one is wearing a dress that the fit and fabric is weather friendly. I also greatly hope that these celebs are not treating these trenches solely as dresses where they are practically naked underneath. I'm just saying. The proper way to layer your cocktail coat on top is to wear a sophisticated party dress, skirt or short of equal length to the coat or shorter so it seems that all that is being worn is the coat like the trend permits. To obtain cocktail chicness with a trench coat is by having a slender waist cinched in the middle with a belt, lest your shape looks a little more boxy and a lot less vivacious. Secondly, opaque tights worn underneath makes this look more dressy and cold weather-ready. Lastly, view the hairstyles and accessories worn by the three celebs below: romantic hairstyles (waves, curls and updos), basic black pumps or strappy heels and chained cocktail handbags. These fashion-forward tips are taken from a stylist's point-of-view on how to chicly wear a trench coat in the form of a cocktail dress.

Love is in the air and also in the fashion with red getting a remix for Valentine's Day. For the modern-day diva not looking to get all gussied up for the holiday but still wants to show their spirit for this heart-filled day can do so in a pair of red skinny jeans. It's a great alternative to the ordinary dark blue denim that many celebrities and fashionistas have fallen in love with. A white top and a leather jacket worn with the crimson bottoms are edgy for the rocker chick. A tailored blazer for a more classic effect or a structured jacket for downtown cool are only just a few alternatives one can flaunt when wanting to incorporate their style with this heart-warming trend. Spread some love from your style throughout your look by making those bright red skinnies the heart- throbbing focal point. Avoid adding on other brights or more red and just stick with basic black, white and nude tones to compliment and complete the outfit.

Look out fabulistas! Short suits are going to be all the rage this spring especially in the tweed fabric, meaning it's time to do some serious shopping! I can't quite put my finger on it because there are just too many reasons as to why the short suit is an extremely popular trend. This Chanel-inspired abbreviated version of the traditional suit is absolutely ideal for the uptown socialite. Not only does it offer a dramatic new look, but it can also give you a sudden shot of self-esteem. It gives off a sophisticated vibe with a little bit of sex appeal that of course is perfect for wearing out but not so much for around the office. I don't know, short suits seem to be a tad bit provocative and probably inappropriate to have as apart of a work wardrobe. However, depending on the length of the shorts, culture and dress code of the work place, a Bermuda short and matching blazer can possibly satisfy the take on the trend without raising any eyebrows or breaking any rules. Although, it's no question that this two-piece ensemble wouldn't be perfect to wear for a spectacular night out. Show off those stems and pump up the volume with a tailored short suit that is in desperate need for some high heels. Since the shorts allow for more skin to show, make those legs climb even higher by giving them some foot work in your highest heels possible. Many may find flats a no-no with this look but I say go ahead and be "flat-out" fabulous if you so desire. I also recommend maximizing your short suit by investing in coordinating separates that look awesome together but can be worn alone or with other key pieces within your wardrobe.
Turquoise rings can add a personal flair and a little pop to an otherwise subdued outfit. While bracelets are worn to draw attention to the hand, it is the ring that keeps the eye there. It is no surprise that wearing a ring with a turquoise stone has started getting us all excited for Springtime. This particular ring is greatly known for its popularity because it is a reason why it is greatly wanted for its Southerwestern inspiration. Worn by itself, a turquoise ring can give maximum impact and can strengthen the values that the ring symbolizes. In today's jewelry fashion, the desire for turquoise rings has grown as people strive for more distinctive and exotic styles. Smaller rings worn with the single turquoise ring and that have similar color hardware can give a more up-to-date style while wearing a matching necklace and ring set is a look that's completely out-of-date.
